Gilad (Gilli) and Miri Harouvi :we were the first Israelis to start the Ashtanga Movement in Israel,1986. We were introduced to our first teacher and dear friend , Danny Paradise (one of "the first 11 western teachers"), through another dear friend and supporter, Mike Fliderbaum. Mike's generous help, in spirit and in matter through the first 10 yrs, was a key element to the development and success of the Ashtanga mouvement in Israel. We established and managed The “Yoga Shala”, the most prominent Ashtanga Yoga Israel School in Israel until 2012. We practiced, taught, researched and were leading teacher Training Teachers constantly and led workshops, retreats and trainings worldwide. Married since 1981, we are blessed with 2 lovely sons: Ben (a yoga teacher in his own right) and Tal.

we devide our time between teaching in Israel and teaching worldwide.

We came to Ashtanga Yoga after a long fruitful career in Contemporary Dance as dancers and choreographers both in Israel and the UK, and traditional Yang style Ta-Chi. Our vision of Yoga is as a tool for higher-education in order to achieve personal human excellence- that can be considered as Yoga's spiritual and non-theistic message. This can further facilitate spiritual grounding and evolvement towards the individual practitioners aspirations.

As a result of 38 years of Dance and Yoga experience, we developed 2 distinct Yoga-education tools that are firmly grounded in Yoga tradition and the Ashtanga practice system: 1- the “Anatomical Ashtanga Technique” for understanding and enhancing the anatomic essentials and as an simple (though not easy) tool for “warding-off” Ashtanga related Injuries, and 2- the "Yoga Dance Therapy method" for experiencing first-hand the esoteric energetic teachings of Yoga- with movement and music. You are welcome to contact us for details via Facebook or mail.
Our Yoga apprenticeship started with Danny Paradise, a personal teacher and friend. One of the first 11 Ashtanga yoga teachers in the West and the first Ashtanga travelling teacher who introduced this style of yoga into many parts of the world, also being the first teacher of many celebrities, a fact that made the Ashtanga famous: it facilitated popularity-boom of the system throughout the world. Along the years we met and studied with such world-renowned teachers as Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sharath Rangaswamy, David Williams, David Swenson, Shandor Remete, Nancy Gilgoff, Chuck miller, Maty Ezraty , Andrew Eppler and Kristina Karitinou. A special thank you goes to Cliff Barber, a unique living inspiration. We are indebted to them all.
We also specialize in the field of so-called “Breath Centered Yoga Therapy”, but prefer to term it “Breath Cantered Yoga Education” in line with the views of prominent Yoga Educator New-York based Leslie Kaminoff. We work with groups, and 1 to 1 tuition.

Gilad currently investigates yoga Darshana as a combined evolutionary system of theory and practice – the subject of his PhD. thesis for the MBMU university in Pasadena, California.
